Abstract
This research aims to analyze the impact of free cash flows on enhancing the profitability of commercial banks and to demonstrate their reflection on the level of information asymmetry in financial markets. It also seeks to clarify the role of voluntary disclosure and transparency as supportive factors in improving the predictive power of financial reports, as well as to analyze sectoral differences in the reflection of these cash flows on information asymmetry depending on the nature of banks, The study adopted a deductive approach in formulating the theoretical framework through reviewing books, journals, and local and international academic theses, while applying an inductive approach in the empirical part via an applied study of a sample of commercial banks listed on the Iraq Stock Exchange during the period 2017–2020. The banks included in the sample were: Al-Etihad Bank, Sumer Bank, and Gulf Commercial Bank. Data were analyzed using statistical methods and the SPSS (Version 16) software to test hypotheses and derive results. The study concluded that an increase in free cash flows leads to a reduction in the information gap among stakeholders, as banks with strong cash flows are more capable of financial disclosure and providing accurate data. This enhances transparency and strengthens investor confidence in the financial market. Moreover, higher bank profitability directly reduces information asymmetry and increases banks’ commitment to financial disclosure, The research concludes that free cash flows represent a strategic tool to enhance bank profitability and reduce information asymmetry. It recommends the development of disclosure reports and greater transparency to reinforce trust and stability in financial markets.
